Hello and
welcome to the Evening Gown Competition tips. There are many
options when you are choosing your gown. One of the first things
you should think about is whether you want to buy your gown
‘off-the-rack’ or have a custom gown designed for you. Most
women’s apparel stores offer many different designs, so you may
be able to find a gown that is perfect for you at your local dress
boutique. But, there are a few things to think about before you
decide to buy the gown ‘off-the-rack’.
As I’ve
said before, your gown should be a reflection of your own personal
style. You also want a gown that is uniquely you. One of the risks
you take when you purchase a gown‘off-the-rack’ is the chance
that a fellow competitor is wearing the same dress However, you
can always select a gown and customize it by adding or changing
the beading, neckline or skirt.
This is a
great way to make your dress look unique and express yourself. For
example, you could change the neckline by transforming a halter
gown into a strapless or one-shouldered gown. When it comes to the
skirt, you have a lot of different options. You can make a slit,
add a train, or even apply sheering to the skirt, depending on the
original design and cut of the dress.
Additional
sparkle is added to many gowns, by using beading, rhinestones, and
sequins. A complimentary color beading is a great way to
accentuate the neckline, waistline, or skirting in an elegant,
subtle way. By doing so you can bring character to your gown and a
little sparkle as they reflect light from on stage.
Especially,
if you buy a gown ‘off-the-rack’, you should have a
professional tailor or seamstress look at the gown prior to making
your purchase This way you can make sure the adjustments you want
to make are possible. Many evening gowns cannot be returned. So,
it is best that you ask to put the gown on Hold for 24 or 48
hours, until can have someone inspect the gown with you.
I hope this
