HEALTH QUESTION OF THE MONTH:

Q: Dear Diva’s I am a pageant insomniac! Every time I compete in a two-day or more pageant I can never sleep the night before. This really shows in my skin and my eyes can you offer advice for those of us who are nocturnally challenged!

A: Whether you were up all night tossing and turning or having fun it makes your skin look tired and fatigued. So good job on analyzing your situation so lets now give you some winning tip!

  1. Curl Your Lashes – This will make the biggest difference on your tired face. Add a couple of coats of waterproof mascara to hold your curl. Finish by dipping a cotton swab in loose translucent powder and sweeping it beneath your lower lid, as this will keep the mascara from running.

  1. Moisturize – This will brighten your skin in seconds! It will plump up those fine dry lines and reflect light thus giving the appearance of a healthier complexion. First warm up the moisturizer in your hand and apply to forehead and cheeks to give you a radiance that will not look obvious!

  1. Pink is The Color – A pink blush instantly wakes your face up and imparts a youthful flow. To apply simply smile in the mirror and gently pat color on the apples of your cheeks, which is where it would rise naturally if you were blushing.

  1. Line Your Lids – Rim your lids with pale neutral eyeliner. The shade will brighten your eye area (the exact opposite of darker shades which will draw attention to the puffiness), as a little blue pencil on the inner lid is a subtle way to counteract bloodshot glassy eyes.

  1. Cover Up – Under eye concealer is different from the formulas you use to hide blemishes. The texture should be light and creamy with a consistency that is easy to layer. Anything to thick or dry will call immediate attention to your tired eyes! Pick a concealer that’s yellow based and slightly lighter then your skin tone. Apply it under the eyes and in the inner corner where shadows create the darkest spots. If your lids are prone to purplish tints, then use a bone shadow – not concealer – to even out imperfections.

True there is no substitute for sleep but there is always makeup! We strongly suggest a good eight hours before your competition. But these tips will fool those judges into believing you’re well rested and full of energy!
