QUESTIONS FROM OUR READERS

Interviews:

Jericka competing in Miss Sungoddess asks: how do you prepare for speaking or the questions they will ask ....Is there something I can read .....What about helping with transition so I don't use the works um... well ... stuff like that .... how do I perfect this so I can at least get to semifinalist!

Jericka, of course there is a place to prepare for your speeches at PageantDiva.com, it’s Public Speaking with Jamie! This PageantDiva worked with all the big motivational speakers and share her secrets with you! Also Interviews with Alexandra would also be perfect. Alexandra’s home video tape will prepare you for everything you need to know. Then the Don Baker Interview Series Vol. I “What We Do and Why” along with Vol. II’s “The Competitive Advantage” will give you the thinking positions you need to be in to not just make semifinalist but win! But after all of the above tapes and videos don’t forget to show the personality that is Jericka! Good luck.

Swimsuit:

Julie, I’m a contestant in an upcoming preliminary pageant for my states Miss USA qualifier. My problem is I am only 5’3”! After hearing my size was a disadvantage I ran out and bought the highest heels I could find. But I am still inches shorter then my states previous titleholders. Does being short decrease my chances of winning? – Bethany competing for Miss USA.

Bethany the answer is simple, height should not be a factor but walking poorly in way to high heels certainly will! The range of Miss Florida USA has been 5’3” to 6’1” and the heel range should be 2” – 3” and nothing more. I think every contestant that competes has a fair chance to win the title. However the bar may be a little higher (no pun intended!) and the leeway a little less for your success. If you come into your pageant at your very best and win swimsuit, shine in your evening gown and have a superior interview session Bethany the title should be yours! Were rooting for your success.

More Shoes!

Hello PageantDiva from Canada! We love you up here and really like when you update the question form! My question is in regards to shoes. I am entering the Miss divisions in pageants. For interview what is the best shoe to wear? Would it be a taupe high heel? I understand the higher the heel (you can walk in) the better! I need all the help I can get as I am only 5’3”! J For swimwear should I go with a clear shoe? My swimwear is one-piece fuchsia! I have both types of shoes. – Your Friend from Canada Melissa

Melissa, thanks you for the greetings from our northern pageant neighbors! Here’s wishing you great success in your upcoming pageants. Let’s talk shoes, the shoes you wear for interview should be fairly conservative in nature and matches you interview outfit. You certainly can use those taupe shoes in swimsuit competition. The taupe allows for a longer look for those legs. One of PageantDiva’s favorite taupe shoe secrets is to use your foundation makeup to perfect the skin tone of the taupe making a perfect skin color match. As in the above question DO NOT BUY 4” OR LARGER HEALS! It looks bad and no way you can walk naturally in them!
